The iPhone4S

Everybody was excited to hear Tim Cook announce a "new" iPhone...we all wanted an iPhone5, how it's going to be prettier and heavier with features compared to the iPhone4, but all we got was an iPhone4S...an upgraded version of what we have now, just faster and a new OS.

I'm still perplexed as to the race to make the faster mobile phone...it's a phone, yeah a smartphone but that's it, you can only do so much on it then pfffft. You cannot make a cellphone too big, otherwise, you'll defeat the "mobile" in the mobile phone meaning. But to enjoy a great movie, it has to be on a big screen. So we go into circles.

The features of OS5, well, hmmmmm let's say, we've been spoiled with innovations from Apple, that most of the time, it's them who start a trend...like...multi-touch, like the icons on the screen, the iPad, the iPhone, the iPod...but this time...what's new? There's the "notifications".... just a "modified" version of Android's unobtrusive notifications....the "card" hmmmm I wonder how many non-US residents will actually use this feature....the "My Friends Location" is just Google Latitude!!!! Then the iMessenger....I won't link it to BBM (BlackBerry Messenger), but there are a host of 3rd Party apps that has been doing this...the recently revived Kik, Groupme, Beluga and a host of other apps that work the same way as that. Oh and there's Siri....very interesting....well, not really...perhaps Apple has just implemented it better than others, others who did it 1st like Google's voice search and voice recognition software. I wonder how many will be talking to their phones after this hehehehe.

But what interested me the most was the rumor of a cheaper iPhone4. I've never been a fan of a phone with a huge internal memory...i mean, when you're done with the phone and you want a new one...you just wasted that much memory space going to nowhere especially if you're the type who doesn't sell your stuff (like me). So a "cheaper" version is welcome...heck, there's none in the outside appearance of the iPhone4 that will tell you that it's not an iPhone4S. But that said...I was surprised to see that they're offering it at $99 with subscription for the 8GB iPhone4...if only Globe can match that price...I'm getting one! A sub-10k iPhone is always a welcome thought.
